It’s a week-long series of events presented by a16z. There are over 700 events listed on the official calendar as of September 10, 2025.

Are San Francisco Tech Week Events Open To The Public?
Some events will be open to the public, some will be invite-only while others will require one to apply and wait to see if they are accepted (usually limited to founders, industry-specific professionals, investors, immigrants, portfolio companies, members of spaces and entities etc).

As you can see, it hasn’t dropped but once it does, a lot of events will likely fill up asap. Similarly, their welcome email quoted a cut-off date of August 22nd to submit events to their calendar. If that is the case, it’s unclear whether events submitted after will be included in their official calendars.
If you know event organizers, some events come together last minute (even awesome ones) but don’t worry, I will update my recommendations and research last-minute additions in my recommendations.

What SF Tech Events Do You Recommend?
There will be many events during the week, some will be a waste of time, others will be interesting some will sell out asap. For the full list of events, check out the official event calendar on the official site.
Like my weekly email newsletters, they are curated guides on what to do, see each week. I accept no ads nor sponsorships. I have been doing this since 2022. Some of the best events are outside of the “Tech Week” events on the official calendar.
Given the number of events during tech week, the quality can be a bit diluted as folks may be fatigued with options, attendee lists oversubscribed with many last-minute cancellations etc. which is why you should check out events before and after tech week.
Similarly, since a specific VC firm is presenting tech week, other VC firms may not have events during this time and choose to do their own events i.e. before or after tech week, not list their events on the official calendar etc.
If you don’t attend tech week, you are not missing out - there are tons of other great tech events year round.
SF Tech Week Registration, Wait Lists
Some events are waitlist-only at the time. They may wait to see who registers before deciding who gets in. That said, some events have already started to accept people of the waitlist. I
