Please consider giving in any way you can to causes and organizations. Any and all help is appreciated and very much needed.
Thanksgiving is the busiest day of the year for volunteering, so much that many organizations are unable to accommodate the volunteers making themselves available this day.
Similarly, there is some inefficiency with volunteering as it takes time, money and effort to teach folks what is needed to be done for a one-time shift. Please consider volunteering on other days, times throughout the year that are in as much if not more need when volunteers are smaller in numbers, especially rainy days, holidays etc. Most shifts below may already be filled by regular volunteers who help regularly, don’t need as much training and can work productively, quickly.
On that note, opportunities for kids this day is especially slim (training, liability, physical strength needed etc.). If you want to do something great this day and can’t find anything to do, consider picking up trash at your local beach, park, playground etc. That is always in need and always welcomed any day, but especially this day.
You can also stock little libraries with food. Make food and distribute to those in need in your neighborhood. You can also look up your local turkey trots for last minute opportunities (there are many across the Bay Area)
