Many folks are seeking public places to escape their tiny apartments, loud sex-having roommates, constant drilling on the streets from PG&E and Caltrans, barking dogs and neighbors who use outside voices indoors.
Isolation has also factored into the reason why people are seeking places, cafes & coffee shops to work from remotely in Marin County. Many spots are a great way to network and meet new people (friends, business partners, investors, singles and ENM couples - in case that’s how you get down).

I grew up in Marin and in my line of work, I have to scour places all over the Bay Area to grab a bite between shoots, scout places to take natural, candid dating photos for clients and find discrete places to have coaching sessions. I have been working remotely for over 15 years, and I know a thing or two about finding fun, unique, cozy, and beautiful places to take photos, meet clients or get work done on my laptop.

Civic Center Library, San Rafael
One of the most beautiful spaces in the county, this immaculate building is ideal for studying, getting work done and most importantly having air-conditioning during hot summer days in Marin. You can also time it and get your grocery shopping done there on Thursdays.
Philz Coffee, Corte Madera
This place can be a bit of a zoo with families, business meeting, remote tech workers, kids running around, dogs but it’s a popular place and free parking helps. Although this place is now private equity owned, it’s a decent spot to work from (you can even use the free seats out in the area if you don’t like their coffee or prefer espresso (which they don’t offer).
Station House Cafe, Sausalito
Great place for coffee (best in Sausalito) and they have a cozy environment, great owners, a small outdoor space in the back patio and great snacks/bites to keep you fueled.

Marin Country Mart Aka Larkspur Landing
Lots of benches, wifi in this shopping center with plenty of takeout options or breakfast, lunch and dinner. You explore and see which area works best for you based on crowds, lighting/shade, noise (kids running around), and bitter divorced parents talking about their exes in public (pro-tip, leave your headphones on without volume for juicier gossip and scandals).
Dr Insomniac’s Coffee, Novato
If you are a fan of potent black coffee, this is your spot. This cafe has some outdoor seating in the back patio so you can get some fresh air or get some distance from folks oversharing their health problems with friends.
Depot Cafe, Mill Valley
This cute little cafe, bookstore is great for getting work done in a more social environment. You will quickly recognize fixtures and regulars of this establishment as it’s mostly filled with locals.
