As I started this list, I realized a few were happening this weekend so I figured I would post this work-in-progress list now and update when I have time (and if people find this useful - if so, please like, comment).

Free Bay Area Paper, Document Shredding Events 2026
There are several opportunities to have free paper/document shredding in the San Francisco Bay Area through library branches, cities, sanitary services, department of public works etc. I am not not going to list all the private ones (namely credit unions and banks - you can look that up yourself).
Many entities only offer shredding events once a year (some twice) so if the date(s) have passed, be sure to set reminders as they usually happen around the same time every year. When possible, I posted links to events so you can see where they are posted and figure out the appropriate method to sign up for alerts from the given agency hosting said event.

if your city, county, library or sanitary service use to have shred events, ask them if they are, if not, ask them why (get your neighbors to do the same)
inquire about credit union shred days (most are for members only but some many be open to the public)
check on eventbrite and facebook listings (usually hosted by an insurance agent, real estate agent)
