Weekly Recommendation
This week’s recommendation is to clear your drains. I know some of you may think this is not your job, and that the city is responsible for this, and I get it. There were many clogged drains last week. Some refilled in less than an hour. I think about the local kids who have to walk into the streets to avoid around huge puddles. I think about folks who are not as mobile and the daily struggles they must deal with navigating our streets.
Programs like adopt-a-drain exist, but I have my reservations. This shouldn’t stop you from clearing a drain already claimed, as some folks ignore their responsibility, don’t check them as often (especially during heavy downpour) or may no longer live in the area. I met a neighbor of mine last week in the rain as she helped me with a huge backup on our intersection. I may not have met her otherwise.
