What Is There To Do In Sacramento?

Sacramento is often overlooked despite its size and growing population, but it’s not the same Sacramento you visited to pan for gold 20+ years ago on your school trip. Most people look up In-N-Out locations on the way to/from Lake Tahoe.

I have been spending some more time here and have seen the quality of coffee, beer, food, cocktails, culture, live music has picked up quite a bit in the last several years. The stereotypes still linger about it being a boring town, but I am here to tell you it’s worth reconsidering.

Getting here is easy via Amtrak, which departs from places like Emeryville.

Below are some of my recommendations of things to do, see, drink, and eat in the Sacramento area.

  • Drake’s The Barn, West Sacramento

    • If you are looking for a place to take kids, this is your spot. The building is one of the unique ones you will find in the state let alone Sacramento area but the with the shade and open space, it’s a popular space for families.
