Valentines Day is around the corner, and many people make the mistake of waiting too long or not making an effort. It’s less about how much money you spend or how fancy a place is. It’s more about thinking of the other person, planning around interests, things they may have mentioned or doing something timely.
There are several ideas below beyond dinner reservations, where you can show your loved one you care from events, activities, romantic walks and more. I even included some events week of and you might even find an anti-valentine’s day event or two.

Below is a list of my favorite Valentine’s Day restaurants by neighborhood in San Francisco, a few places with outdoor seating, and a few places outside of SF in the East Bay, North Bay, Peninsula, and Silicon Valley.
Don’t wait, most of these places will fill up asap, given that Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday this year. There are no 2 or 3-star Michelin spots on this list - you know who those are, you don’t need me to tell you about them. From neighborhood gems, to under the radar dining establishments, intimate spaces and a few vibey spots, there is something for everyone below.
