Eddie’s List Curated Guides:
San Francisco is made for solo travel and exploring alone even if you live here. The city has becme a lot more introverted over the year thanks to pandemic (isolation), WFH and types of jobs that make it easier to survive here (coding, AI, creating unnecessary marketplaces and automating activities that don’t need to be).
San Francisco Solo Activities - Dining Alone
One of the best things to do alone in San Francisco is pull up a seat to a restaurant or bar by yourself.
There are lots of amazing cocktail bars, wine bars and restaurants but many of them can be difficult to obtain a reservation. Luckily, most places keep a few seats open for walk-ins and if you are solo, it’s much easier to find a coveted seat even at busy times like Friday and Saturday nights.
You can check out my guide below on my favorite places to eat/drink alone in San Francisco, from casual spots to fancier nights out on the town, whether in town for a concert, work or just a last minute trip for a change of scenery or to escape the heat.
If you don’t want to spend your time alone at restaurants, you can throw yourself a picnic! There are lots of options for grabbing a bite and heading to amazing parks, benches with views and more across the city.
SF Things To Do Alone - Read & Write At Cafes, Bars
There are lots of places across town that are good for getting work done or disconnecting from the internet, news and settling down on a hot or cold drink while putting the pen to paper or enjoying a good book.
There are lots of places across the city to drop in whether during the work week or on the weekend. Below are some of my favorite places to read and write in the city from parks, cafes, bars, public spaces, hidden lobbies and more in downtown and more sleepy parts of the city.
San Francisco Solo Hobbies, Activities
San Francisco is known for its arts and crafts as well as classes from physical activities, more quiet introverted hobbies and everything in between.
If you are looking for a one-off class or something longer-term, check out my guide below for options on classes to take from dancing, crafts, cooking and more.
These classes are great for solo participants looking to explore new hobbies or those looking to meet people with similar interests.
San Francisco Solo Travel Trips & Getaways
One of the best things about San Francisco is that the surrounding areas 1-2 hours away, offer incredible options for exploration for travelers and locals alike. Seasonal options are plenty, whether you want some sun, nature or check out the ocean or mountains.
